People from the music sector, including singers, DJs, organizers and agents, have started a campaign in protest of the government's new ban on playing music in cafes, bars and restaurants after midnight.
Amid increasing cases all around the country, the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday (September 8) announced that playing music in cafes, bars and restaurants after 12 a.m. was banned. It is not yet known when the ban will be lifted.
The ban applies for both live and recorded music, according to the ministry.
Using hashtags "#müziksusturulamaz, #saveourstages, #wemakeevents, #coderedrestart, #savelivemusic and #saveourstages, sector employees demand the cancellation of the ministry circular.
"My profile will be illuminated in red for the next seven days. We will be in solidarity with people who work at the events/entertainment sector and lost their jobs because of mistakes that were not their own and of the current period. Most of us have spent our lives to reach the point of 'living by doing what we love'," a statement by sector employees said.
