Journalist Banu Acun was briefly detained at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in İstanbul while returning from Germany yesterday.
Acun said she was detained under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code. She added that she had collected her luggage and was waiting for her lawyer to arrive before giving a statement.
Later in the day, Acun was released on the condition of giving a statement to the prosecutor's office or court during the week.
Article 301 has been a controversial law in Turkey that covers the "public denigration of the Turkish nation, the Republic or the Grand National Assembly of Turkey." Those convicted of this crime could face six months to three years in prison.
In the past, many journalists and writers have been prosecuted under Article 301.
