In the early hours of the morning, journalist Serdar Akinan was taken into custody during a police raid on his home in Ayvacık, Çanakkale, as he revealed in a tweet. Sharing a video of the moment, Akinan wrote, "I'm being taken into custody. I'm being taken to the Ayvacık district police headquarters."
The reason for Akinan's arrest has not yet been disclosed, causing concern among his colleagues and supporters. Just recently, Akinan conducted an interview with Muhammed Yakut, who has been leveling corruption allegations against current and former government officials and businesspeople on his YouTube channel.
Akinan, 55, is a well-known journalist in Turkey who has covered various sensitive topics over the years.
Later, Cüneyt Özdemir said on Twitter that Akinan was being taken to İstanbul.
