Theater and movie actors Metin Akpınar and Müjdat Gezen, who were targeted by pro-government media outlets and President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan due to their statements on a television program, have been released on probation by the court on duty that they were referred to.

After police officers came to their houses earlier today (December 24), Akpınar and Gezen went to the Bureau of Organized and Constitutional Crimes and deposed at the Prosecutor's Office.
Deposing for almost one and a half hours, Akpınar and Gezen were referred to the İstanbul 3rd Penal Court of Peace and stood before the judge on duty.
Announcing its judgement, the court has ruled that Akpınar and Gezen shall be released on probation, imposing an international travel ban on them as well as an obligation to give signatures once a week at the police department. (HA/SD)
