The former editor of the monthly political magazine Demokratik Modernite (Democratic Modernity) Servet Öner has been taken into custody in her house in the district of Beyoğlu in İstanbul.
While it has been reported that Öner has been detained as part of the operation that was launched in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır on October 9, it has been expected that Öner will also be taken to Diyarbakır.

While journalist Kibriye Evren, who was detained as part of the operation launched in Diyarbakır on October 9, has been arrested, other detained journalists, namely Abdurrahman Gök, Semiha Alankuş, Lezgin Akdeniz, Esra Solin Dal, Cihan Ölmez and Mehmet Akdoğan as well as the distributor of the Yeni Yaşam (New Life) newspaper Savaş Aslan were still in custody in Diyarbakır Security Directorate as of 1 a.m. today (October 12).

While the journalists have been charged with "undertaking actions and activities in the name of a terrorist organization", it has also been reported that the following questions were posed to the journalists while in custody: "What is your relation and contact with the PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers Party/ Kurdistan Communities Union)?", "What is your position inside the organization?" and "What is your code name that you use inside the organization?".
