Heavy rains in the eastern province of Van and its vicinity have been going on since July 28.
After floods in several parts of the province, buildings in the housing estate built by the Housing Development Agency (TOKİ) in İpekyolu district also flooded, according to a report by Mesopotamia Agency (MA).
Floods also hit 80 houses and 15 vehicles in Çaldıran district while more than 100 livestock died.
In Başkale district, 11 houses were demolished due to the floods on July 31. Yesterday (August 2), buildings in the district were flooded again.
Landslides that occurred due to heavy rain blocked the highway between Van and Hakkari, leaving dozens of vehicles stranded. Efforts to reopen the road are underway.
Agricultural areas have also been damaged by the floods.
Floods have also hit Hakkari, a province neighboring Van. Some 500 livestock were killed in Yüksekova district on July 31. (TP/VK)
