The Coordination of Either Canal or İstanbul (Ya Kanal Ya İstanbul) held a march along the route of Canal İstanbul project yesterday (February 2).
Covering almost 11 kilometers on foot from Sazlıbosna village to Şamlar village in the district of Arnavutköy, İstanbulites marched aginst the canal, chanting the slogan "There is life between two seas".
Gathering in Sazlıbosna village, the group started the march, opening a banner that read "It is either the canal or İstanbul. Join us to stop it."
While the group frequently chanted the slogan "There is life between two seas", the march was held along the 11-kilometer-route of Canal İstanbul project from Marmara Sea to Black Sea.
During the march, the Coordination also informed the participants about the ecological destruction to be caused by the project.
The Coordination tweeted the video below, attaching the note, "Our friend is giving information about the region: 'It is, in fact, a strict protected area. No one is supposed to enter here'."
