Spokesperson of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İMM) Murat Ongun has shared the latest data on the fill rate of water reservoirs in İstanbul dams.
Based on the figures shared by the İstanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), Ongun has announced that the fill rate of water reservoirs in İstanbul dams has reached 43.77 percent as a result of torrential rains holding out in the city since January 5.
Accordingly, the amount of water provided for the use of İstanbulites reached 2 million 683 thousand 961 cubic meters on January 6.
As of yesterday (January 6), the fill rate of water reservoirs in İstanbul dams was 39.31 percent. This rate has increased by 4 percent and reached 43.77 percent today. It was 33 percent before the rains started.
Fill rates of water reservoirs by dams
With the latest data update of the İSKİ, the fill rates of water reservoirs by dams in İstanbul have been listed as follows:
- Elmalı – 87,54
- Darlık 58,22
- Alibey – 54,54
- Ömerli – 51,67
- Terkos – 48,95
- Büyükçekmece – 35,82
- Sazlıdere – 35,45
- Istrancalar – 26,93
- Kazandere – 4,89
- Pabuçdere – 3,77
Rainfall expected to continue
Since Sunday evening (January 5), the northern and western parts of the country, especially İstanbul, have been effected by the cold front coming from the Balkans and torrential rains from the Mediterranean.
As of 7 a.m. today, the highest amount of rainfall was received by Eyüpsultan Hamidiye (108,6 kg/m2), Şişli (100 kg/m2) and Beykoz (92 kg/m2).
As for the lowest amount of rainfall, it was recorded in the western districts of the city such as Silivri (25kg/m2) and Büyükçekmece Kamiloba (38 kg/m2). While the average precipitation measured in the city was 60 kg/m2, İstanbul received 100 kilograms of precipitation per square meter.
İstanbul Provincial Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that storms and torrential rains will hold out in the city today as well. (TP/SD)
