A forest blaze broke out in Bodrum in the western province of Muğla at about 2.15 p.m. yesterday (August 7) and it was brought under control at around 7.30 p.m., the General Directorate of Forest has announced, adding that 50 hectares of forest land was destroyed in five hours.
Bayır Neighborhood near the area was evacuated as a precaution and the blaze was prevented from spreading into the neighborhood, the directorate said.
Another forest blaze broke out in Manavgat in the southern Antalya province. Water tenders, dozers and firefighting vehicles were used to bring the fire under control, according to the statement.
The fire blaze that had an impact area of 30 hectares was "totally brought under control," the directorate noted.
It further said that 19 forest blazes and 14 "rural area blazes" occurred on August 7. (DB/BK)
