The Petroleum Pipeline Company (BOTAŞ) has raised natural gas prices for industrial consumers and power plants.
With a 48 percent increase, the price of 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas has risen to 3,482 lira for industrial facilities. The price for power plants has increased by 46 percent to 4,000 lira (1 US dollar = 9.54 Turkish lira).
Free consumers who use more than 300,000 cubic meters of natural gas annually, the price for 1,000 cubic meters of gas has risen to 3,500 lira.
BOTAŞ has maintained the prices for natural gas distribution companies, which means prices for households won't increase.
As a reason for the price increases, BOTAŞ cited the global increase in energy prices, which it said "was not fully reflected" in this month's price list.
Turkey has Europe's cheapest natural gas prices for households, it said, citing the Household Energy Price Index.
"Are subscriber groups have been maximally protected. The necessity of making a regulation in a way that will affect our consumers at the minimum level emerged as of November 1," said BOTAŞ. (HA/VK)
