In the seventh week of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) 2nd League, Sakaryaspor and Amedspor had a match in Sakarya on October 13.
Before the match between Sakaryaspor and Diyarbakır-based Amedspor, the song called "I would die for you my Turkey" (Ölürüm Türkiyem) was played. Accompanying the song, the video footages of military operations were also displayed on the screen at the Sakarya Atatürk Stadium.
After Sakaryaspor won the match 2:0 against Amedspor, the fans of Sakaryaspor first attacked the Amedspor bench, then, went to the Amedspor changing room and attacked the players and the coaching staff.
Speaking to the Mezopotamya Agency reporter Özgür Paksoy, Chairperson of the Amedspor Nurullah Edemen stated that they would file a criminal complaint against the ones who were responsible for the attacks.
Both the video footages displayed before the match and the attacks afterwards were shared both on the official Twitter account of Amedspor and the accounts of fan groups with the following messages:
"The moment of attack on our changing room and the moment of attack on coach Sertaç (Küçükbayrak)"
"The moment of attack on our bench by Sakaryaspor fans"
"While our players are entering the football pitch to warm up before the match, this song is being played and these videos are being displayed on the screens in the stadium. I do not understand what they are thinking. Haven't you understood it yet? Amedspor is a football club."
