LaWje music band will give its first major concert in İstanbul in 3 years since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic broke out.
The band will perform with a large cast. The concert will take place on Friday (February 18) at 8 pm at Beşiktaş Süleyman Seba Cultural Center.
LaWje, which started compiling songs as a band in Hakkari in 2003, interprets folkloric songs compiled by dengbêj (folk singer) and storytellers in their own style and presents them to their audience.
The band, which is mostly based on the music of Hakkarî, also interprets songs from close regions such as Botan (Şırnak-Cizre).
LaWje, which has been compiling songs in forms such as kilam, payîzok, heyranok, şeşbendî and narînî since ancient times, and reorganizing the songs they have compiled with their own musical perceptions without detracting them from the traditional texture, brings the audience together with the immense sea of Kurdish music in Hakkarî and Botan.
In addition, they reinterpret their old songs, which can be considered cults now, in their own musical forms and present them to their listeners.
Chalak Events platform, which organized the concert, said there was a lot of interest in the concert and they were waiting for the hall to fill up on February 18 at 8 pm at Beşiktas Süleyman Seba Cultural Center.
