Assembled around an appeal by Aslı Erdoğan, a group of writers will head to Turkey’s border this Saturday to reiterate their demands to open a corridor to Kobane.
Previously, the same group also initiated a campaign to write “1 sentence for Kobane”. Now, they will visit head to Suruç and neighboring villages.

Writer Ayşegül Sözeren told bianet the following:
"Literature roots out where the life resists. Therefore, we have a responsibility to say something here. It is time to conjugate the words that we have produced last week. We are going to the human chain, a humanity watch for Kobane.
“The sentences made for humanity is for everyone. The sentences that we make for Kobane is also valid for Armenians, Alevis, Turkmens as well. We are also making these sentences for Ezidi people in Sinjar. If we are witnessing a massacre, genocide or atrocity, we have to carry its shame as well.
“We are going to reiterate our demand for Turkish officials to open a corridor to Kobane with no prerequisites. We are also against the lynch culture towards those who raise their voices for Kobane in Turkey. We are calling for solidarity and peace, this is a scream for humanity and it is above ideologies. We are calling those who can’t join us physically to give their thoughts to it,” she said.
The group will arrive in Suruç around 12:30pm local time on Saturday. Initially, they will visit the neighboring villages to Suruç and then two refugee camps inhabited by those who fled from Kobane. They will also bring books to children and make a needs-assessment (NV/BM)
