The death toll from the February 6 earthquakes reached 45,089, the Disaster and Emergency Presidency (AFAD) announced today (March 1).
Some 11,020 aftershocks followed the two massive earthquakes centered in two districts of the Maraş province, according to the announcement.
The number of people who were transferred from the earthquake-hit provinces or went from these provinces to other provinces with their own means and who were registered there by the governors and strict governors reached 1,971,589.
A total of 358,037 tents have been set up in the region and container cities were established in 332 points in 11 provinces. The setting up of container cities continues at 162 points in 10 cities.
Accommodation is provided for 1,915,687 people in tents, containers, public university dormitories, hotels, and public guest houses in the earthquake-hit region and in other places.
Four mobile social support centers have been established in Maraş , Hatay, Osmaniye, and Malatya. Psychosocial support was given to 1,025,291 people, 691,388 in the earthquake-hit region, and 333,903 outside. (AS/PE/VK)
