Woman rushing to help her mother after the earthquake: 'They were left to die'

Many in Elbistan want to leave the city while others are waiting for their family members who are trapped under the wreckages of buildings.

Some say that there were no rescue works in the first days.

A woman who arrived in Elbistan, flying from abroad, hoping to pull her mother out of the debris says, "They were left to die when we arrived. There was no work carried out."

"Buildings constructed last year collapsed"

She also mentions a residence site called Aydın sitesi. She says a great number of people died there.

Another person from Elbistan also talks about Aydin sitesi.

"They all died in the Aydın sitesi. They built 10-floor buildings there last year. I don't know how they built them. People paid one million lira* each for the houses. But the buildings were destructed.",

"Do not know what to do"

The people whose houses are destructed say they have nowhere to go and they do not know what to do.

"I don't know what we will do. We are waiting for the dead of my brother-in-law. My wife says she will not go anywhere before she buries him."

Another person from Elbistan says they will not leave Elbistan and wait for their bellowed by the wreckages.

"People have gone to İstanbul, Ankara, Mersin, İzmir. We will wait in front of our wreckage," he says.
