Eighteen stray dogs were found sedated and left in the countryside near the Demirciler Pond in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ, northwestern Türkiye.
The head of the Yeniköy Neighborhood, Mahmut Gündoğdu, said they had went to the said place after citizens notified them of the incident, adding, "Together with a retired teacher and a retired specialist sergeant, we found that 18 stray dogs were sedated and randomly left on the Demirciler Pond main road and in the bushes. Since it was around 24:00 at night, we could only count this much. The dogs are unconscious."
Citizens in the Yeniköy Neighborhood said there is an animal shelter built by the Şarköy Municipality and the dogs should be taken there.
In the morning, citizens who went for a walk also complained about the large number of dogs and asked the municipality to take them to the shelter. (YÖ/HA/VK)
