İstanbul's Yıldız Technical University has agreed to provide a vegan menu to its students after a campaign by the school's Vegan and Vegetarians Club and the Vegan Association of Turkey (TVD).
The vegan menu will be introduced as of February 28, the university administration has announced.
Starting the campaign in January, the students submitted a petition with 500 signatures to the administration on February 1.
In support of the students, the TVD had started an online campaign for students on change.org.
Ebru Arıman, the founding chair of the association, said they were pleased after the decision to introduce a vegan option to the student menus.
"We hope that it will set an example for other universities," she said. (TP/VK)
