After several dogs were found dead in Batıkent and Çubuk in Ankara last week, four dogs were also found dead in an empty field in the Neighborhood of İncek in Çankaya today (April 18).
Upon finding the dead bodies of dogs in an empty field, the residents of the neighborhood informed the municipality and police about the incident.
After the officers from the municipality came to the scene of incident, they found sausages containing chemical substances in the vicinity. Sausages were collected by the officers and brought to the Veterinary Branch Office of the Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara.
Entertaining the possibility that the dogs could be poisoned to death, the teams have taken measures around the scene of incident. Police officers have also started to examine the surveillance cameras in the vicinity to identify the person or persons who left the sausages.
An investigation has also been launched into the incident.
Several other dogs also found dead last week
Last week, 16 dogs were poisoned to death after eating poisoned chickens in Batıkent, Ankara. Three people were taken into custody regarding the incident; however, all three have been released on probation by the court. In Çubuk, the dead bodies of 30 dogs and 2 cats were also found. In the same week, 10 other dogs were killed by unknown persons in Kütahya.

Speaking about the incident in Çubuk, Association for Protecting, Saving, Supporting Animals' Lives (HAYKURDER) Chair Erman Paçalı said,
"We are receiving news of new massacres from all around Turkey. Humanity is rotting step by step. What are the authorities waiting for to enact new laws? When will these massacres end? When will the state intervene? The only way to say 'Stop' to these massacres is the law. We want a law." (AÖ/SD)
