Politician and NGOs Urge for Clarification of Önkol's Death
MP Soysal applied to the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission to clarify the death of Ceylan Önkol. Soysal said he wants to solve question marks evolved from the circumstances of the girl's death to ease the public conscience. More than 40 NGOs and Associations launched a signature campaign at the same time pursuing the same intention.

Police Force against IMF-WB Protestors - 200 People Arrested
About 2000 people wanted to participate in a demonstration against IMF and World Bank starting on Taksim Square in Istanbul. The police intervened with tear gas, tinted water and water cannons. Clashes occurred in a number of neighboring districts.

32 bodies were recovered from the floods, nine people are still missing. Hundreds of cars were dragged along by the massive force of the water. People were trapped in their cars. Buildings collapsed under the impact of the flood.
