Mustafa Gürpınar, the water truck driver who was injured two days ago during the forest fire in Menderes, İzmir, lost his life in hospital today (July 12).
Gürpınar, who was working for the Gaziemir Department of Forestry was injured during the firefighting, according to the statement made by the İzmir Directorate of Forestry.
The fire had broken out around 14:00 on July 10 in the Oğlananası neighborhood of Menderes, İzmir in western Turkey, and there had been firefighting efforts from the air and on land.
The fire was contained after 11 hours. Four people were injured during the firefighting.
Landings and take-offs from the İzmir Adnan Menderes airport were halted due to the smoke.
