Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has revealed today that in June, 242 physicians applied for a "Certificate of Good Conduct," a document required for doctors to work in a foreign country.
At current rate, the number of applications may even surpass the record-breaking 2012, as 1,361 doctors applied for the document in the ifrst half of this year.
The demand for the certificate in 2022 was 2,153, nearly 40 times higher compared to the demand in 2012, indicating a significant increase in the desire to practice medicine outside the country, according to TTB figures.
This surge in applications reflects the growing number of doctors seeking opportunities abroad, largely due to poor working conditions in Turkey's healthcare system.
Addressing the issue, the TTB emphasized the need for improving working conditions for all colleagues. "We continue the fight for improving the working conditions of all our colleagues, especially those in earthquake-prone areas!" (TY/VK)
