Evaluating an application by a transportation workers' union, the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) found that Pegasus Airlines dismissed workers because of their union activities.
The company's claim that it had fired the workers because of low performance was not correct, an İŞKUR inspector found.
The dismissal of 36 ground operations workers and five flight workers after July 1, 2021, violated Law No. 6356 on Unions and Collective Bargaining, according to the İŞKUR.
The Nakliyat-İş union, which had filed the application, started its activities at the company in early 2021.
After a significant number of employees became members of the union, Pegasus Airlines fired 106 workers, including 80 union workers, without a reason.
The union had also filed lawsuits for reinstatement and damages. The cases are continuing. (HA/VK)
