The Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) has announced employment figures for June.
Accordingly, the number of unemployed is 4 million 417 thousand. It was 4 million 84 thousand in May.
After 382,863 people lost their jobs in one month, the increase in the number of unemployed reached 8.1 percent.
2 million 231 thousand of the unemployed were women. The number of unemployed aged between 20 and 24 is 1 million 213 thousand. 739 thousand of them are aged between 25 and 29.
Eight hundred and 99 unemployed people who are registered at the İŞKUR have a doctoral, 20,592 have a master's, 664,507 have bachelor's degree.
The number of unemployed was 2 million 621 thousand in June 2018, which means it increased by 69 percent in one year. It was 918 thousand in June 2005, when Turkey's population was 67 million 743 thousand. Today, the population is 82 million 3 thousand. (HA/VK)
