The release of Yaşar Aslan, who was convicted at the State Security Court (DGM) of the time, and who has spent 30 years in prison, was postponed for the second time last week because he did not "show regret."
Aslan was not granted conditional release on December 27, 2022, for the second time, and his time in prison was extended for another three months. The reason was that the Good Conduct Committee that evaluates conditional release did not give approval.
Mezopotamya Agency reported last week that the Committee postponed Aslan's release on parole for the second time for three more months because "he did not show regret."
Aslan stood trial for political reasons while studying law at Dicle University at DGM and he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Eight other prisoners not released by administrative decisions
It was again reported today that reports prepared by the Administration and Monitoring Committees of prisons also continue to prevent verdicts to be released after serving their time.
Five prisoners in Erzurum, two prisoners in Oltu, and one prisoner in Van are not being released despite having completed their sentences.
There are prisoners who served thirty years in prison, and ordinary prisoners besides political prisoners among those whose release is being prevented by administrative decisions.

* Sabri Yakut, kept in Dumlu No.1 High-Security Prison, imprisoned for 30 years: 1 year
* Doğukan, kept in Dumlu No.1 High-Security Prison, an ordinary prisoner: 6 months
* Hakan Zertürk, kept in Dumlu No.1 High Security Prison: 6months;
* Bilal Balkeş, kept in Dumlu No.1 High-Security Prison: 3 months
* Fadıl Aydemir, kept in Dumlu No.2 High-Security Prison, imprisoned for 30 years: 1 year
* Şemsettin Tekin, kept in Oltu T Type Prison, imprisoned for 30 years: 1 year
* Sevgi İlboğa, kept in Oltu T Type Prison: One and a half years
* Mehmet Çengel, kept in Van High-Security Prison, imprisoned for 30 years: 6 months. (NT/PE)
