The signboard of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) provincial organization in Iğdır, eastern Turkey, was torn down as a result of an individual's assault early today, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.
The incident was captured by a security camera in the business center where the office is located in the city center. In the footage, the assailant is seen approaching the entrance of the business center at 02:48 in the night, attempting to cut the HDP banner with a knife.
While the assailant partially cuts the banner, he also looks around vigilantly. Unable to bring down the banner he cut with the knife, the assailant exits the camera frame at 02:49, but later returns to continue cutting the banner.
Subsequently, the assailant stops cutting and removes the banner from its place, taking it with him as he leaves the entrance of the business center.
It was reported that the assailant discarded the torn banner in a nearby trash bin. The banner, noticed in the trash, was brought back to the HDP building and handed over to the officials.
While no information is available about the identity of the assailant, the HDP will file a criminal complaint regarding the incident. (RT/VK)
