Chairperson of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a circular called "The Child Rights Strategy Document and Action Plan in Turkey."
The circular published in the Official Gazette today (April 18) it is being stated that "the children are always seen as the guarantee of the future and that it is especially important to offer them a prosperous future."
The circular also emphasizes the "protection of the family."
Introducing family support insurance and supporting families with children occupies a significant place in the election campaign of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the joint presidential candidate of the Nation Alliance of six opposition parties.
The circular
The circular issued by the Presidency includes similar aspects and includes the following:
"Bringing up, education, and the health of the children, and protecting the family have been emphasized in legislation and also in policy documents. Integrating work carried out in all stages such as identifying the needs, planning, implementing, and monitoring the interventions in the field of protection of children constitutes the ground for developing services that are effective and fit for today's conditions.
"Cooperation with stakeholders is essential for taking measures in order to support the healthy development of children by planning proactive interventions.
"Therefore, the Child Rights Strategy Document and Action Plan in Turkey (2023-2028) has been prepared in order to guide the work to be carried out in Turkey in the field of children's rights, coordinated by the Ministry of Family and Social Services. The mentioned document will be published in the official website of the Ministry of Family and Social Services (www.aile.gov.tr).
TurkStat data on children
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) for 2022, 42 percent of children cannot consume dairy products such as cheese or yogurt every day. The ratio of children who cannot eat vegetables every day is 67 percent.
Only 12,7 percent of the children eat meat, chicken or fish every day while only 10,9 percent consume legumes every day. (AÖ/PE)
