People's Democratic Party (HDP) announced that they met with Selahattin Demirtaş, the imprisoned ex-chairperson of HDP for his candidacy in the presidential elections.
Demirtaş thanked the HDP delegation for visiting him but told them that the legal challenges he faces were not fit for running for president.
HDP issued a statement about the visit.
It says, "A delegation of our party met our ex-chairperson Selahattin Demirtaş who is kept a political prisoner for his candidacy yesterday (January 26) in the Edirne Prison.
"I will support Labor and Freedom Alliance candidate"
"Demirtaş thanked our delegation but told them that the legal challenges he faces make it inappropriate to run for president and that he would be supporting the work that the party will carry out."
"Demirtaş also stated that he will be supporting the name who will be the candidate of the Labor and Freedom Alliance and that he was determined to work for the election campaign together with the party in the best possible way." (RT/PE)
