The parliament has adopted a motion to form an investigation committee for measures to be taken against earthquakes in the country.
In a rare move, all parties that have a parliamentary group agreed on the motion. (The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), its ally Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), the Good (İYİ) Party, and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) )
According to the motion, a 22-member committee will be set up and work for three months.
After the quake, the CHP criticized the government, saying that its 48 law proposals regarding earthquakes was rejected in the parliament.
On October 30, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake in İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city, killed at least 110 people, injured more than 1,000, and left many homeless. (EKN/VK)
