Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) MP Süleyman Bülbül has brought the Presidency Communications Directorate's 2020-2024 Strategic Plan to the parliamentary agenda.
The directorate's budget for four years was stated as 1.9 billion lira (262 million USD, 1 USD=7.24 lira), he noted. It allocated 811 million lira for the announcement of the government's activities and 270 million lira for social media.
How this money will be spent should be shared with the public, Bülbül said.
"Restricting social media on the one hand and allocating this budget on the other hand means ridiculing the nation," he said, referring to the recent social media law ratified by the parliament.

Bülbül asked the following questions to Vice-President Fuat Oktay:
What are the activities as part of the "announcement of the government activities to the public"?
What are the "works regarding the social media strategy" which are included in the strategic plan?
What are the activities for "strengthening the press" as part of the Objective 3 of the Strategic Plan?
What are the activities of "the development of public service and public diplomacy" a part of Objectives 1 and 3? (HA/VK)
