An investigation launched against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Spokesperson Günay Kubilay upon Turkish Penal Code Article 301, which makes it illegal to insult "the Turkish nation and the state."
The HDP was notified today (January 24) by the police on the investigation that was launched by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The police went to the HDP Headquarters in Ankara but did not give detailed information on the investigation as Kubilay was not there at the time.
"It is true that an investigation has been launched upon [article] 301 but I don't know the content of the investigation yet," Kubilay told Tükenmez Haber. He said he was investigated for "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" before.
The investigation has been opened over his statements as the party spokesperson, the Mezopotamya Agency reported.
Kubilay is expected to go to Ankara Courthouse to give a statement to the prosecutor in the coming days.
