Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that the migrants from Syria who lost their accommodation or family members in the earthquake were returning to their own land voluntarily.
The Minister inspected the borderline and checked the border posts together with the Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler yesterday (February 19).
Here, Akar responded to the claims that there were mass infiltrations to Türkiye from the border following the February 6 earthquakes that hit southern Türkiye and north Syria.
"Such claims are totally unfounded. There is no infiltration from the borderline or passages from the border gates. We obtained information from the officials, we made inspections."
Akar said that there was no massive infiltration into Türkiye but on the contrary citizens of Syria were passing from Türkiye to Syria. He also said that he had been informed that the migrants from Syria who lost their accommodation or their families in the earthquake were returning to their own land voluntarily.
10,633 citizens of Syria had returned to Syria voluntarily, Akar informed and he said, "Some malicious circles claimed that there is a flood of irregular migrants from the border. We understand that this is fake news." (RT/PE)
