Survey: Half of people in Turkey have sleeping difficulties

While most people in Turkey consider themselves "healthy," many of them have sleeping difficulties and feel stressed, according to a survey conducted in 35 countries by BAREM company and WIN group.

Seventy-nine percent of the people in the world and 78 percent of the people in Turkey feel healthy, the survey shows.

The share of people who consider themselves healthy is higher among men and younger people, both in Turkey and in the world.

In Turkey, 84 percent of men and 88 of the people in the 18-34 age group think they are healthy, whereas only 73 percent of the people older than 35 consider themselves healthy.

Among the people with the lowest education level, 67 percent think they are healthy. This rate increases to 82 percent among high school graduates and to 92 percent among people who have university-level education.

Sleeping difficulties

While two-thirds of the people in the world say they sleep well, this rate was 50 percent in Turkey. The share of those who said they sleep well and very well was similar in all demographic groups in the country.

Exercises

Only 21 percent of the respondents in Turkey said they exercise regularly. This rate was similar in all demographic groups except for those who have university or higher education, which was 29 percent.

Stress

Globally, 31 percent of the people frequently feel stressed, where this rate is 39 percent in Turkey.

Forty-three percent of the women respondents, 48 percent of the low-income respondents and 47 percent of student respondents in Turkey said they frequently or very frequently feel stressed. (EMK/VK)
