Hakkari Provincial Deputy Security Director Hasan Cevher has been shot dead by police officer Nasuh Çulcu.
The incident happened while the deputy director was eating at the police mansion in Hakkari, eastern Turkey, according to a statement by the governor's office.
The officer fired three shots at the Cevher, who lost his life in the hospital he was taken to, said the governor's office.
Officer Çulcu was shot in the foot while he was trying to escape and detained.
Previously serving as the İstanbul Security Branch Director, Cevher was assigned to Hakkari in 2017.
While the governor's office said the reason for the assault had not yet been identified, it happened after the director refused to talk to the officer, who wanted his appointment canceled, according to reports in the media.
Çulcu previously served at the Hakkari Special Operations Branch Directorate but was temporarily suspended because of harassing a woman, according to unconfirmed reports. (HA/VK)
