The lawyer of the family in the case of the suspicious death of Jeannah Dina Dinabongho, a young university student from Gabon, announced that he will be withdrawing from attorneyship in the case.
The lawyer, Kerim Bahadır Şeker, stated that the Embassy of Gabon who agreed to the need for a second autopsy, later declined to support the family for the cost of it, 6.000 dollars as requested by the forensic medicine institute.
What happened?
The dead body of Jeannah Dina Dinabongho was found by the Filyos River on the Zonguldak - Karabük road near Yeşilköy on March 26, after information coming from a train driver. The police started an investigation into the suspicious death.
Eight people were taken into custody, three from Gabon. Five of the suspects were released after their statements were taken in the prosecutor's office.
Suspects İ.Ç. and S.Ç. were released with judicial control, while Dursun Acar, taken into custody and later released four times was arrested in the end. The death of the young woman has not been enlightened yet. Dina's dead body was sent from Karabük to the İstanbul Forensic Insitute because of insufficient cooling.
"The Embassy did not support us"
Representatives of the Ankara Embassy of Gabon who came to the İstanbul Forensic Institute together with Dina's family who had traveled from Gabon to Turkey after their daughter's death, and Kerim Bahadır Şeker, the lawyer of the family requested a second autopsy here.
Dina's mother and father requested the 6 thousand dollars needed for a second autopsy from the Embassy of Gabon. The embassy rejected the request of the family. Dina's mother and father, who do not have the necessary financial means, could not have the second autopsy carried out.
Şeker told bianet that they first got approval from the Embassy of Gabon for a new autopsy, but that the embassy told them that they would not have a new report prepared after they had been informed about the 6 thousand dollars of cost for the forensic medicine report.
"The embassy did not support us. I am very sorry. It is not possible for us to cover the price that is being requested. We also have differences of opinion with the family. I, therefore, quit to be their lawyer," Şeker said. (EMK/PE)
