Three transphobic hate attacks took place in a week in the western province of İzmir.
On November 20, a man attacked and seriously injured two different trans women within one hour.
Trans woman Berrak was killed in and a tranas woman was injured another attack in front of the train station in Basmane district on November 27.
The Genç LGBTI+ Association met with the injured women and released a statement condemning the attacks, according to a report by Kaos GL.
All three women were sex workers and one of them is currently in intensive care treatment, the association noted. The other injured woman was discharged from hospital.
The assailant used a "specially crafted weapon" in the attacks and threatened further assaults on trans women, the association said, citing eyewitnesses.
Police detained the assailant and a court arrested him, according to the report.
The third attack on Saturday targeted two trans women. As two women were injured in the attack, with one of them in serious condition. She was hospitalized but eventually succumbed to her wounds, said the association.
"We are very sad and angry for the loss of Berrak. We express our condolences to his relatives and all of us," said the association, demanding an effective investigation into the incident.
The assailant should receive the heaviest possible punishment for the hate attack, it stated.
