The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has launched a military operation in Hakkari, a predominantly Kurdish-populated province in the country's east, targeting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The operation specifically targets the rural areas near the villages of Aşağı Uluyol (Tilorana Jêr) and Yukarı Uluyol (Tilorana Jor) in the Yüksekova district, near Turkey's border with Iran, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.
As part of this operation, a bridge used for accessing the Horê, Beresor, and Conî plateaus from these villages has been sealed off by soldiers utilizing armored vehicles. Additionally, a strict cordon has been placed around the villages.
Those who own sheep in the Beresor Plateau found their passage obstructed, preventing them from herding their livestock. This, in turn, forced shepherds to return to their village without being able to tend to their sheep.
Since the early morning hours, the military has been actively involved in the operation, with numerous troops transported to the area using armored vehicles. The region close to the Iran border has witnessed heightened activity of reconnaissance and armed drones. (NT/VK)
