Four soldiers were killed and two were wounded yesterday (September 11) in Türkiye's military operations in Iraq's Kurdistan region, the Ministry of National Defense has announced.
A clash broke out between soldiers and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members during a search and reconnaissance mission, said the ministry statement.
The wounded soldiers were immediately taken to the hospital, and operations are continuing, it added.
The authorities have informed the families of the killed soldiers — Infantry Specialist Sergeants Harun Yıldırım, Savaş Borlu and Fatih Kalkan, and Infantry Senior Sergeant Soldier — according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Turkey in mid-April launched a new military offensive in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) territory, dubbed as the "Operation Claw-Lock," targeting the PKK.
The latest in a series of cross-border military operations against the group since 2019, the offensive focuses on the mountainous regions of Metina, Zap and Avasin-Basyan. (VK)
