One person has been arrested in the southern Antalya province over social media posts on the military operation in Idlib, northwestern Syria.
Antalya Provincial Security Directorate said in a statement that it launched a probe against those who are committed the offenses of "insulting Atatürk," "provoking people into enmity and hatred," "threat aiming to cause panic and fear among the people," "insulting a public official because of his/her duty," and "insulting the Turkish nation and the state."
Upon an order by the Public Prosecutor, legal action was taken against 43 suspects and five suspects were detained. Three of the detained people were released on probation while one was arrested by a penal court of peace.
Following the airstrike that claimed the lives of Turkey's soldiers on February 27, it was announced that "the ones posting provocative messages on social media ''are probed by the Department for Fighting Against Cyber Crimes of the Directorate General of Security. Dozens of people have been probed and investigated so far. (AS/VK)
