On the second day of Turkey's operation into northern Syria, the Governorship of Urfa has announced that two people, one of whom is a nine-month-old baby from Syria, have lost their lives in the province. The Governorship has stated that 46 people have also been wounded.
Releasing a statement about the issue, the Governorship has said, "As the mortar shells and rocket projectiles fired from Syria hit our districts of Akçakale and Ceylanpınar in our province, 9-month-old baby Muhammed Omar from Syria has become the first martyr of the Operation Peace Spring and our finance officer Cihan Güneş working for the Directorate of Tax Administration in Akçakale have fallen martyr".
The Governorship has also informed that 46 people have been wounded and the wounded have been referred to hospitals.
One child has died in Ceylanpınar
11-year-old Elif Terim has also lost her life after being hit by a shrapnel on her chest. Terim was hit while she was playing on the street in the district of Ceylanpınar in Urfa. She was taken to the Ceylanpınar State Hospital after the incident. Terim has lost her life there.
Mardin Governorship: 3 civilians have died
The Governorship of Mardin has stated that mortar shells hit the district of Nusaybin, claiming the lives of three civilians and wounding 24 people.
Mother Fatma Yıldız (48) and her daughters Emine (12) and Leyla Yıldız (15) have lost their lives. The wounded have been hospitalized in Nusaybin State Hospital. (AÖ/PT/SD)
