Erdoğan appoints one woman and 19 men as new rectors

President and Chairperson of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appointed rectors to 20 universities.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, only one of those appointed as rectors is a woman; Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar who has been appointed to the Manisa Celal Bayar University.

Naci Bostancı, a former AKP Ankara MP,  Group Deputy Chairperson, and Vice Speaker of the Parliament was appointed to the Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University as the new rector.

The other 18 rectors appointed are the following:

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kelleş, as the rector of the Adıyaman University, Prof. Dr. Alpay Arıbaş, as the rector of the Aksaray University, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, as the rector of the Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hakkı Turabi, as the rector of the Amasya University, Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu, as the rector of the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can, as the rector of the Giresun University, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, as the rector of the Hitit University, Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, as the rector of the İstanbul University, Prof. Dr. Fatih Kırışık, as the rector of the Karabük University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, as the rector of the Kastamonu University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, as the rector of the Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Prof. Dr. Metin Sitti, as the rector of the Koç University, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Kızıltoprak, as the rector of the Kütahya Dumlupınar University, Prof. Dr. Orhan Baş, as the rector of the Ordu University, Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın, as the rector of the Health Sciences University, Prof. Dr. Şakir Taşdemir, as the rector of the Sinop University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan, as the rector of the Süleyman Demirel University, and Prof. Dr. Evren Yaşar, as the rector of the Yozgat Bozok University.

Five new male members to the Higher Education Council

The decision for the election of 5 new members to the Higher Education Council (YÖK) was also published in the Official  Gazette.

According to the decision signed by President Erdoğan, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Prof. Dr. Halit Eyüp Özdemir, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, Prof. Dr. İlker Hüseyin Çarıkçı and Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün were elected as the new members of YÖK. (AS/PE)
