Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli yesterday (June 21) spoke about violence against women at his party's parliamentary group meeting.
He criticized Netflix and other broadcasters over TV series that "harm the family," as well as the media reporting of violence against women.
"The repetitive display and exposure of murders of women in the media should definitely be stopped, and all kinds of publications and news that encourage violence should be avoided," he remarked.

The Netflix series with "profanities and the most despicable jobs" have "crossed the line," he said. "Family life is the last shelter. There is a planned propaganda campaign to pillage this shelter.
"How can we laugh at profanities? How can we appreciate monstrous scenes that commodify women and corrupt men?"
Bahçeli complained about the high number of incidents of violence, saying that there is no sign of a decrease in such incidents.
He criticized the practice of reducing sentences of perpetrators of violence against women.
"In homicide cases, court should give verdicts rapidly and murderers should not be given the opportunity to be rewarded with reduced sentences because of good conduct, mental stability problems or for other reasons," he said, adding that introducing death penalty for child abuse and feminicides should be discussed.
