The Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) have signed a protocol for the establishment of the "TRT Religion Kids Channel," the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
At a press conference, President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş said, "For years, we have not been able to familiarize our values with our children."
"We have tried to feed them with translated, foreign cartoons. However, we should support, feed them with our own national values.
"As we know, 70 percent of a human's character is shaped before the age of seven. The Presidency of Religious Affairs should have a contribution in this character formed before the age of seven. The TRT Directorate General should have a contribution.
"We should do this by supporting our children with the nicest, truest religious knowledge."
TRT General Director İbrahim Eren said he was happy to make cartoons in line with the "editorial line shown by the Presidency of Religious Affairs. (AÖ/VK)
