Google commemorated chemist Dr. Remziye Hisar (1902-1992) with a doodle today (December 13).
Hisar, Turkey's first woman chemist, occupied academic positions at various universities and published numerous articles, most notably on metaphosphates and herbs grown in Turkey.
On this day in 1991, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) granted Hisar the Service Award for her work.
Hisar was born in Skopje, then part of the Ottoman Empire. She passed away one year after losing her son in 1990.
