Specialist sergeant Musa O., who allegedly raped a woman in the southeastern Batman province, reportedly said in his police statement that he was "drunk" when he met the woman.
O. was released from detention by Siirt Penal Judgeship of Peace on Duty upon judicial control measures. The court issued a confidentiality order for the case.
The woman he assaulted, İ.E., attempted suicide after the incident. She is now in the hospital and her condition is critical.
Mesopotamia Agency obtained the sergeant's police statement. Accordingly, he denied that he had sexual intercourse with the woman. When asked about the forensic medicine report that confirms the woman was raped, he said he was drunk when he met İ.E.
İ.E.'s family applied to the Human Rights Association for legal support. The association made applications to Siirt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of National Defense and the parliament's Committee on Human Rights. (EMK/VK)
