President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, "In our country, there are those who eat pork. We do not intervene because they eat pork. Why? "They can eat due to their religion, that doesn't concern us much."
He made the following remarks:
"Hate speech is normalized on social media and TV programs all day. Today, Muslims are the most exposed to hate speech and insults to sacred values.
"Hate speech should never be within the scope of freedom of thought.
"Not everyone can be expected to be vegetarian. That's not my belief. I respect your faith, why don't you respect me?
"There are those who eat pork in our country. We do not intervene because they eat pork. Why? "They can eat due to their religion, that doesn't concern us much."
"We support the idea of creating a database of hate speech in the UN.
"All state institutions have important duties in this regard (Azad Kashmir). Concrete initiatives should be made more effective both within the intergovernmental and regional and global international organizations.
"Combining Islam, a religion of peace, with terror, is a great slander, immorality. Such a thing is unacceptable.
"As Turkey, we will continue to lead the efforts for effectively fighting rising Islamophobia, racism and hate speech." (PT/VK)
