The forest fire that broke out early yesterday (August 23) on Ida (Kaz) Mountains in Balıkesir, northwestern Turkey, continues.
Firetrucks and helicopters have been deployed by the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Forestry.
Steep terrain makes firefighting efforts more difficult as earthmovers are used to open paths for firefighters, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
The cause of the fire that erupted on the foothills of the mountain near Kavurmacılar neighborhood is still unknown.
Later in the day, Minister of Agirculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli announced that the fire was contained.
