Turkey and other countries should leave Syria to its peoples, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Pervin Buldan told the party's parliamentary group today (March 10).
"Syria should be left to the Syrians. They will eventually come to this point," she said.
"Here, I want to remind the AKP [the ruling Justice and Development Party] that you can't make a story of power out of Syria, Idlib," referring to Turkey's increased military presence in northwestern Syria.
"You have to pull out of Syria. For the future of Turkey, for the future of children, you have to get out of there. What you need to do before it's too late is to get out of Syria," she added.
"The day you take your hands off Syria, the peoples of Syria, Turkey and the Middle East will relax. You should leave hostility towards the Kurds and your policy to leave the Kurds in Syria without a status."
Turkey carried out two military operations against the pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party in Syria; the Operation Olive Branch in the northwestern Afrin in early 2018 and the Operation Peace Spring in the northeast in October and December 2019. Turkey and the Syria-based armed groups it support captured several cities from the Kurdish forces in the oprerations.
Buldan said the solution in Syria must be solved by engaging in talks between the differing in the conflict that establishes a social agreement.
"They should become aware of it. The Syrian issue could just be solved ... with a dialogue between the Syrians," she said. (EMK/VK)
