After hours-long ceasefire talks in Moscow, the parties agreed on the draft ceasefire agreement for Libya yesterday (January 14).
However, announcing that some parties to the conflict signed the final agreement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that Libyan National Army (LNA) leader Khalifa Haftar requested additional time.
As of this morning, LNA leader Haftar has left the capital city of Russia without signing the Libya ceasefire agreement.
Later in the day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has announced that LNA leader Khalifa Haftar was granted 2-day time to discuss the conditions of the draft ceasefire agreement with his allies.
Releasing a statement on January 9, Haftar previously rejected the joint call of Turkey and Russia for a ceasefire in the country.
Russia's Foreign Ministry has confirmed
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, it has been announced that following the ceasefire negotiations, the UN recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) has accepted the agreement while LNA leader Khalifa Haftar has left the city without signing it.
Addressing the reporters who asked whether Haftar has left without signing the agreement, the ministry official has answered, "Yes".

The ceasefire agreement was accepted by the GNA government. However, LNA leader Khalifa Haftar and the delegation accompanying him in Moscow requested additional time to think.
What is in the draft ceasefire agreement?As reported by Sputnik news, the draft ceasefire agreement foresees that "all offensive actions should cease and all parties should start de-escalation in all areas." According to the draft, the parties will form working groups to resolve the crisis in Libya. A 5+5 military mission, as per the proposal of the United Nations (UN) Special Mission in Libya ( UNSMIL), is foreseen to specify the area of the line of battle of contact, observe the implementation of the ceasefire and ensure that it is holding.
