Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the new PM of Greece, met with President of France Emmanuel Macron in Paris yesterday (August 22).
In a joint press conference, Macron warned Turkey about its hydrocarbon exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, saying France will not "show any weakness".
He further said the EU countries will be in solidarity in terms of protecting the exclusive economic zone of Southern Cyprus.
Mitsotakis thanked Macron for their support and said the EU won't leave Southern Cyprus unprotected.
President Erdoğan said yesterday that Turkey will "resolutely" continue to explore hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean.
"No project ignoring Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can be realized in the Eastern Mediterranean.
"Those who once sought to seize the island by shedding the blood of Turkish Cypriots pursue the same goal through political and economic attacks today." (PT/VK)
