United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has answered the questions of journalists following his meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. In response to a question asking “Did you propose a safe zone to Turkey?”, Tillerson said, “We discussed a number of possible options, but we didn’t propose anything”.

Question: Mr. Tillerson, did you propose a safe zone to the Turkish foreign minister in Syria?
Secretary Tillerson: We discussed a number of possible options, but we didn’t propose anything.
Question: You arrived today?
Secretary Tillerson: About an hour and a half ago
Question: (Inaudible)
Secretary Tillerson: Well, we came in from Paris, had some meetings in Paris. (INAUDİBLE) But I am really pleased this worked out and we had the chance to see you.
KRG PM Barzani: Thank you for this opportunity to see us.
Secretary Tillerson: We have a lot to talk about. Thank you.
KRG PM Barzani: Thank you.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had held a meeting with US State Secretary Rex Tillerson as part of the Meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs in Paris.
Çavuşoğlu said that Tillerson proposed a safe zone of 30 kilometers deep to cover Syrian border in the meeting whose main agenda was Afrin. (PT/TK)
